YES. Also for infantry, you gotta be able to ruck to the god damn sun!! The fight must go on and if we cant get to the fight with a truck, we gotta walk there. And it fucking sucks. I climbed grape rows in Afghanistan for 16 hours plus while still having to fight the enemy on and off. People think infantry guys need to be thin and have no meat on them. Not at all. We don't want fat bodies but we do want guys who have decent muscle mass, and the heart to never give up in a combat situation. Facts! Not sure if this applies to other branches besides Air Force, but once you opt for a Rated position you ARE taking a rated position whether or not its what you want. Wanted to fly F-16’s? Too bad you may be using an remote controller to fly unmanned instead. I saw firsthand people go through 4+ years of school and ROTC just to see them be disappointed once they got their AFSC (job) near graduation

Issue is team time. It’s why some people are hesitant to go officer in SOF. Enlisted get paid less, but the job typically lasts longer and is arguably more “fun”. But it’s 🤷🏻‍♂️ when you factor in the money difference.

A buddy of mine went to SF selection and failed right out the gate (unfortunately they don't tell you till the end). He came back to the infantry unit, was able to continue training, and was sent right back. He ended up getting through selection the 2nd time around. Another buddy went to a Pathfinder unit and they sent him to all the schools. If you're motivated, you can be cool 😅

Good for him as NSU use to admit high school graduates with a 2.0000 GPA and 600 combined SAT. They raised their admission standards some years back, but are still low enough that just about anyone who slept through high school can still get accepted.

Good lord......you can go to OCS, get branched Infantry (it ain't hard) and then you can get all the Ranger School you want...I had no guidance when I went in in 2002 but I could at least was able to get this figured out. The number of resources like Jake and all the other shit these kids have access to, and they still don't know what the fuck!

Rangers aren’t even on the same plane as PJs and CCTs. Get real. No female never even came close to becoming one. There’s one bench mark.

Army dude here ✋🏾. Go to OCS please. If it’s combat arms from what I heard from officers they usually send you straight to Ranger after their version of basic. Enlisted it’s a hit or miss. If you’re lucky you can go right after basic. Some units love that school and would send an entire battalion if they could and others not so much. The point is officers is the way to go the army needs more competent officers to lead their soldiers. DONT BE A FOOL AND ENLIST WITH A DEGREE!!!

Many enlisted people with degrees. It helps with promotion and job placement. Officers are administrative and get assigned to a corps not an MOS/job. And often don't get to pick their Corp assignment.

We had to run a mile in seven minutes in highschool ro pass gym ....that was the girls time too btw lol. We were expected to do it in seven minutes or less and guys had to do six minutes or less. I can't imagine running it now though...lol. I'm sure there are people who run that in four minutes. Now days, id probably get it done in fifteen lmao
